Welcome

“Normal” is a bit of a loose term. For some it means, boy trouble, school issues, the divorce of parents–that sort of thing. For others it means, say possibly, running for their lives, saving the world, developing mutant powers–easy stuff.

Those who read the last sentence correctly are probably a little freaked. Even to me, that stuff sounds just like a crazy dream.

Sometimes dreams come true. And sometimes the most far-fetched, absurd sentence in the history of the universe, well, it maybe might just be true.

In my case, it is.

The thing is, I’m only 98% human. Oh, and I almost forgot, 2% bird. Meaning, I can fly. Not only that, but I also have raptor vision and the tendency to develop unintentional mutant powers. Is it fun? Heck, yeah. But it’s also EXTREMELY dangerous.

I’m not the only one. Not even by a longshot. Max, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy, and Angel were all also genetically “enhanced” with the DNA of birds.

Enhanced. That’s what THEY call it. See, all six of us grew up in a laboratory. Every last one of us was given up in our young years to a research facility. Not by choice, in fact, all of our parents were forced to give us up one way or another, whether because of money shortage, the age of their pregnancy, or threats from the government.

Our life is pretty hard, but compared to others, we have it good.

We’re one of the more successful experiments. The unsuccessful ones? Many were absurdly mutated, then left to die. But there are other survivors. Our dog, Total, is one of them. He can TALK. And FLY. I guess even sweet little puppies aren’t safe anymore…

Anyways, being a genetic mutation isn’t all it’s cut out to be. No, since our life isn’t hard enough already, we also are running for our lives from crazy, power-hungry evil scientists, AND saving the world from who-knows-what.

No matter where we go, we’re taking a risk. That’s why I made this blog. So I have you. As backup, in case anything happens to me or a Flock member. Someone needs to know the truth. OUR side of the story.

Fly on.
